What Rob Wealth represents, and why it has this name

Rob Wealth is first a member of the Day Master's own phase. For Jia, Yi Wood can participate in peer support, so the relationship also symbolizes people of similar standing and shared effort. Its function is broader than the word “Rob” alone suggests.1

The name emphasizes division of Wealth among peers. Earth is Jia's Wealth, and Yi can also control Earth. If Wood is strong and Earth slight, Yi may increase the pressure on Wealth. “Rob” describes this controlling relationship; it is not an allegation of theft or a judgment about someone's character.1

If Jia is instead weak, Earth heavy and Yi able to act, peer support may be useful. San Ming Tong Hui distinguishes heavy Wealth with a weak Day Master from slight Wealth with a strong Day Master in its treatment of peers. The same Rob Wealth can participate in either arrangement.

How to find Rob Wealth

Jia and Yi share Wood, but Jia is yang and Yi yin. Yi is therefore Jia's Rob Wealth. With Yi as the Day Master, Jia becomes Rob Wealth and another Yi is Friend.

A branch’s contained stems are its hidden stems, each with a Ten God relationship to the Day Master. Mao contains Yi. For Jia, Yi shares Wood but has opposite polarity and is Rob Wealth; for Yi, another Yi is Friend. Mao’s pillar position does not change the Day Master used for comparison.

The conditions for Rob Wealth’s support or division of Wealth

With weak Jia and heavy Ji Direct Wealth, a capable Yi can support Wood and help Jia bear Wealth. Yi’s strength depends on the season’s support for Wood, Water generating it, and Wood within branches providing a foothold. That foothold is called a root. An already weak and heavily controlled Yi can provide only limited help.1

If Jia and Yi are already abundant and Ji slight, another Yi may place Wealth under still heavier control. That is the situation in which division of Wealth becomes a concern. The difference lies in the initial relative strengths and in the added peer's capacity to act.

Friend and Rob Wealth are collectively called peers. The traditional preference for peers when the self is weak means they may support an insufficiently strong Day Master. Needing support and receiving adequate support remain different conditions: a powerless Yi is not strong assistance merely because it is Rob Wealth.

Direct Officer restraining Rob Wealth: how Metal protects Earth Wealth

If excessive Wood over-controls Earth Wealth, the next question is what can restrain Wood. Xin Metal controls both Jia and Yi. Its polarity is opposite Jia’s, making it Direct Officer. For that same Jia Day Master, Yi is Rob Wealth and Ji Direct Wealth, giving these relationships:

Xin Metal (Direct Officer) → controls Yi Wood (Rob Wealth) → which otherwise controls Ji Earth (Direct Wealth)

With strong Wood and weak Earth, Officer can reduce Wood's excessive control and protect Wealth. But Xin also controls Jia. If Jia is already weak, strengthening Officer may overwhelm the Day Master. Protection of Wealth and excessive Officer pressure must be weighed within the same arrangement.1, 2

Output generating Wealth: successive Wood–Fire–Earth generation

Another arrangement gives strong Wood a productive outlet. Fire generated by Jia is Eating God or Hurting Officer, collectively Output. Fire can in turn generate Earth Wealth. With Ding Hurting Officer and Ji Direct Wealth, Wood generates Ding and Ding generates Ji, giving Wood an outlet while supplying Wealth.1

This differs from Metal directly controlling Wood. One uses Output to generate Wealth; the other uses Officer or Killings to restrain peers. Which is useful depends on the strength of Fire and Metal and on whether the Day Master needs an outlet or restraint. With weak Wood and strong Fire and Earth, more Output would intensify expenditure.

Rob Wealth, Friend and the Yang Blade

Friend and Rob Wealth share the Day Master's phase; Friend has the same polarity and Rob Wealth the opposite polarity. Both can assist, and both can divide Wealth.

Yang Blade, or Yang Ren, is a separate marker found by comparing the Day Master with a branch. Jia’s Yang Blade branch is Mao, which contains Yi; Yi is also Jia’s Rob Wealth. The two names therefore connect when Jia meets Mao. An exposed Yi, however, is not the same as Mao being present: Rob Wealth compares another stem with the Day Master, while Yang Blade identifies a corresponding branch.1

FAQ

Does a Rob Wealth year guarantee losing money?

For Jia, an Yi year has a Rob Wealth annual stem. This establishes a relationship. Discussing division of Wealth still requires conditions such as slight Wealth and excessive peers; actual spending cannot be predicted from that annual stem alone.

Can Rob Wealth represent cooperation?

Cooperation offers an analogy for peer support, but its practical success depends on actual responsibilities and interests. Rob Wealth may also participate in division of Wealth, so the cooperative image does not replace analysis of the original Day Master–Wealth relationship.
