Lot 70
CautionLi Mi Rebels against the Tang
Each morning you are like a bee in search of flowers,
Flying west and south, then turning back toward the east.
When spring is spent and all the blooms have fallen,
The restless heart still follows its familiar track.
The Lot in Detail
Traditional image
The image is of a bee searching after the flowering season has passed. Repeated activity is not producing value; stop ranging wider and reassess the timing and object of pursuit.
Traditional explanation
The season of colour comes to an end
Long rain keeps the sky from clearing
Plans and ventures drain the heart
Quietness is better than pursuit
