Lot 69
FavourableThe Plum Blossoms for a Second Time
Through winter, one plum branch remains upon the ridge;
Its leaves have fallen, yet the branch is not destroyed.
Once the message of returning spring arrives,
It takes its place again as first among the flowers.

The Lot in Detail
Traditional image
The image is of a plum tree blooming again. What seems finished may revive when the season changes; delay is wiser than forcing a premature result.
Traditional explanation
The first arrow seems to meet empty air
Yet the emptiness is not the end
Wait for spring to return
Then colour and promise will appear
